ADAM ROSZKOWSKI

     Violinist Adam Roszkowski has always believed in exploring new creative ideas of musical performance and thriving for artistic excellence either pursuing studies in his native country and abroad or collaborating with different masters. Born in Suwalki into the family with musical traditions, Adam chose to study violin at a very early age and at 6 he was already performing on stage. From an early age on he was interested to play at different music competitions and had considerable success in Bach Competition in Zielona Gora and Violin Competitions in Lancut. While at the Lyceum Adam was invited by the conductor Michal Nesterowicz to be the soloist with his Orchestra – the Podlasie Philharmonic in Bialystok and performed Violin Concerto in B minor by Camille Saint-Saens.

    The two colleges where he perfected his violin studies: Frederic Chopin University in Warsaw (class of Prof. Tadeusz Gadzina) and the Royal Conservatory of Music in Brussels, Belgium (class of Prof. Adam Korniszewski) had the most important impact on his musical education. The Belgian Government awarded him the fellowships two times, in 2005 and 2006. The young artist completed his studies at the Royal Conservatory with Grand Distinction. Additionally, he studied conducting with Prof. Ronald Zollman.

Being highly motivated artist apart from the classical and romantic repertory Adam plays the acoustic and electric violin has a keen interest in jazz and collaborates with funky New York musicians Sean Noonan and Alexis Marcello. In 2014 in France he joined a tour of Sadlers Wells production „Sutra” with Belgian choreographer, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Polish composer Szymon Brzóska.


    The last very creative project of Roszkowski brothers is „Tensions” which is a collaboration with Adam Bałdych and Krzysztof Dys, polish jazz musicians.

In recent years he was a soloist in Gorzów Philharmonic Orchestra. During this time he performed as a soloist with Gorzów Philharmonic Orchestra, Białystok Philharmonic Orchestra, Camerata dell’arte Chamber Orchestra, Carloforte Festival Orchestra and played Wieniawski, Mozart, Saint-Saens violin concertos and great pieces of Ravel, Chausson, Williams, and Halvorsen. He was invited to play a common recital with the famous Polish pianist, Janusz Olejniczak, and Ukrainian violinist Vadim Brodsky.

In 2008 together with his brother, cellist Jan Roszkowski, Adam co-founded a professional Violin-Cello Duo. In June of 2011, the brothers launched a concert tour around Poland, including a performance at the 13th and 14th Festival of Baroque Music in Pasym. In 2012 two brothers had great success performing together in New York and received a standing ovation. Their repertoire explores music from J.S.Bach to contemporary composers. In 2013 David Noon, American composer dedicated his Sonata for Roszkowski’s brothers.

 

    Adam has performed at various festivals like America Romantica versus Chopin, Mazurian International Festiwal, Summer Philharmonic Aukso, EFG London Jazz Festival, Vilnius Jazz Festival, Handelbeurs Ghent Festival, Leeds Film Festival and many others. He is the Vice President of Art-S.O.S. Foundation.
